Thanks for the answer. I confirm that the connector in my photo is indeed located under the rear bumper in drivers side and that I do not have an adapter but am seeking one. Does your company have one?

I looked at the picture that you sent and that connector does not look like what the # 40455 plugs into. The connection point is located behind the bumper near the driver's side tail light. The connection location can be seen in the video of this product, it shows the entire install of the 2005 Ford Escape. The install location is shown at the 23 second point in the video.
