Recommended Weight Distribution System To Tow a Pop-Up Camper Trailer With a 2007 Honda Pilot

Published 07/13/2011

Question:

My tow vehicle is a 2007 Honda Pilot with a class III hitch and the heavy duty towing package. I am towing a Trailmanor hardsided popup travel trailer. The TW of the trailer is 409 and the GTW is about 3500. What is the best option?

When choosing a weight distribution system, you will want to select one that encompasses the tongue weight of the trailer when fully loaded. This weight is usually between 10 to 15 percent of the GTW weight.

You could also use the Reese system # RP67509, but you may experience a slightly rougher ride as it has a slightly higher capacity. Going with a higher capacity system may be beneficial if you decide to go with a heavier camper in the future, in that you could possibly use the same weight distribution system for more than one trailer.
