Question:
I have a tandem axle dump trailer it has 235 80/16’s on it. I have to replace two tires and was thinking about going to a 235/85/16 so that I could go to a higher load rating if I put two of those on one axle and have the 235/80/16 on the other axle will that cause any issues?

Yes, using two different tire sizes, like the 235/80R16 Provider # TTWTRTM2358016E and the 235/85R16 Provider # TTWPRG235R16, will cause issues for your dump trailer.
The larger size tire will be just about 1 inch taller which will result in uneven wear on your tires. It will also cause your suspension to sit at a different angle than it was supposed to and could cause uneven wear there.
You will want to stick with the same size tire for both axles. If you decide to get a bigger tire with a higher load rating just be sure to keep in mind that you least rated component will be your weight limiting factor. If your trailer is rated for under what your tires can already carry then upgrading your tires will not allow you to always increase your weight capacity.
