Video Transcript for In-Depth Review of the Americana High Pressure Rubber Snap-In Valve Stem

Today we're going to review part number AM20904. This is a high pressure rubber snap-in valve stem. it has a maximum inflation pressure of 80 psi and it has an effective length of 1 1/2" long. These tubeless snap-in valves for high pressure applications are designed for medium and heavy duty trucks and trailers. These valves must be used when a recommended cold inflation pressure on the tire exceeds 65 psi. These high pressure snap-in valve stems for wheels with the .453 rim hole, which is what this valve stem would fit in to, allows a maximum cold inflation pressure of 80 psi. These are typically used in steel wheels.

High pressure snap-in valve stems will combine a thicker rubber snap-in base right here with the metal barrel and has the plastic cap. Again I mentioned the effective length on this is 1 1/2" and that's actually measured once it's installed in the wheel so the effective length is actually going to be measured from where it comes through the wheel to the top of the cap. If we put a ruler on this, it'd be a good idea, you can see the inch and a half effective length. That should do it for the review of part number AM20904, the high pressure rubber snap-in valve stem with the maximum 100 psi inflation and the 1 1/2" effective length. .

  • Can I Determine the psi Rating of a Wheel
Since wheels will be able to withstand the psi rating of any of the tires that are meant to fit it you will need to look at the valve stem as that is the deciding factor. If your valve stem has the rubber all the way up to the threads, like part # AM20903, then it will be rated around 65 psi. If there is some reinforcement between the rubber and the threads, like part # AM20904 or # AM20907, then your valve stem can be rated between 80 and 100 psi. The only valve stems that are rated for...

  • Do Tire Valve Stems Come Included with Tires That Are Purchased Unmounted
Tires that are sold alone, not pre-mounted on a rim/wheel, do not include valve stems but we do offer these as separate items. Tires that are pre-mounted and sold with a rim/wheel do of course include the valves. I have linked you to the various parts available, which include both metal and rubber types and in various psi ratings, such as # AM20906.

  • Can Load Range D Trailer Tire Size ST205/75R14 Replace Tires on 2015 R-Pod Model 178
We have a Load Range D trailer tire in size ST205/75R14 as part # AM10235. This tire will fit easily on your current rim since this is the same size as what you have. It actually requires 75 psi which we have the valve stem part # AM20904 which is rated for 80 psi that you could use with it. Your valve stems will get replaced when you take the wheel to a tire shop to have the tires mounted. Most likely they'd have the correct valve stem, but if not the # AM20904 will also work.

  • Can The 15 x 5 Liger Trailer Wheel LH34FR Handle An 80 PSI Load Range E Tire
As is, no it cannot. The valve stem that comes included with the Liger Trailer Wheel # LH34FR is only rated up to 65 psi so you would need to swap it out to either the 80 psi # AM20904 or the # AM20906 which is rated to over 100 psi (if you wanted one that was over rated).

  • How To Determine The Trailer Wheel Replacement Needed
There are a few measurements needed to ensure you get the correct wheel replacement, but it is difficult to determine from just a picture. I've attached articles to help with the proper fit by measuring the bolt pattern of your wheel, the width from bead seat to bead seat, and the diameter. If you need further help, send me the photos and the dimensions you have and I'd be happy to assist.

  • Budget-Friendly 14 Inch Wheel For 205/75-14 Trailer Tire
We have wheels for your 205/75-14 trailer tire, and that size tire fits 14" x 5" or 14" x 5-1/2" wheels, which is great because it will save you some money. There are a couple options for the most budget-friendly 14" diameter wheels: - Dexstar Steel Mini Mod Trailer Wheel # AM20365 - Dexstar Steel Spoke Trailer Wheel # AM20352 Both will also need Valve Stem # AM20904.

  • Can the Same 14" Wheel Be Used for 6-Ply and 8-Ply Tires
As long as the valve stem in your wheel can handle the higher 75 psi rating of the 8-ply Load Range D tire and you don't plan on exceeding the lower weight rating of your wheels then you'll be just fine. If you need to upgrade your valve stem as well then the Americana High Pressure Rubber Snap-In Valve Stem # AM20904 will get the job done since it is rated for up to 80 psi. If you'd rather have a wheel rated for up to 2,200 lbs (the max rating I'm seeing for an 8-ply tire) then you will...

  • The Max PSI for Trailer Wheels Versus Tire Max PSI
The max psi rating is specific to each tire as it is tested, so you cannot simply increase tire pressure to get a higher speed rating or increase weight capacity. Your tires could overheat or wear quickly because they are not designed for that pressure rating. Overheating is the number one cause of tire failure including blow outs and it is almost always due to improper inflation or traveling over the speed rating of the tire. When trailer tires are not speed rated with a letter, the default is 65 mph max. I've attached an article to assist. If you want a speed rating higher, then for that tire size I recommend the Taskmaster 4.80R12 Radial Trailer Tire w/ 12" White Spoke Wheel - 5 on 4-1/2 - Load Range C # TA98RR. Your trailer tire size ST205/65-10 mounts on a rim that measures 10-inches in diameter x 6-inches wide. These are the same dimensions as the Steel Trailer Wheel # AM20046 that you referenced so as long as you confirmed your wheel bolt pattern is the popular 5-on-4-1/2 type you're all set. We also offer a galvanized finish wheel # AM20048 that is otherwise identical. If you need a valve stem you can use part # AM20903 for pressure up to 65-psi or part # AM20904 for pressure up to 80-psi.

  • Can Boat Trailer Upgrade From 205/75R15 to 225/75R15 Tires
Yes, so long as you have the needed clearance, you can certainly upgrade the tires on your boat trailer from 205/75R15 to 225/75R15. The 225/75R15 tires will add just over 1/2 inch to the top of the tire, and be about 1/4 inch closer to the frame (you want at about 3" of clearance from the top of the tire to your fender and at least 1" of clearance between the inside of the tire and your trailer's frame rail). You are correct that you'll need new wheels as well since 225/75-15 tires fit...

  • Trailer Tire and Rim Pressure Capacities and Correct Inflation
In a trailer tire the limiting factor for PSI pressure is usually the valve stem. Different valve stems handle different pressures. Some rubber stems like # AM20903 are good to 65-psi while others like # AM20904 are good to 80-psi or to 100-psi as with # AM20907. Metal stem # AM20906 can handle pressure up to 200-psi. Usually a rim itself will handle any pressure required by the tire sizes that fit it. Any trailer tire will be able to meet its maximum weight load rating only when inflated...

  • Aluminum Wheel Air Pressure Capacity When Using Higher Rated Tires
I checked out the aluminum wheels we offer to see if there were large variances concerning tire pressure. For wheels that have a 6 on 5-1/2 bolt pattern, the psi rating was either 80 or 85. For wheels that had an 8 on 6-1/2 bolt pattern the psi rating varied from 80 to 110. I also spoke with our resident tire and wheel expert. • Will Aluminum Wheels Have Enough Weight Capacity For a 2007 Keystone Laredo 5th Wheel Trailer
Yes, the Aluminum HWT Hi-Spec Series 03 Mod Trailer Wheel part # AM22646 is a great option for your 2007 Keystone Laredo 5th Wheel Trailer. In regards to weight capacity, these wheels offer up to 2,830 lbs which will be suitable for even the highest load range. I recommend the Karrier ST225/75R15 Radial Trailer Tire part # AM10303 but you will want to use the Americana High Pressure Rubber Valve Stem part # AM20904 to run them at full capacity.

  • Can I Swap Out My ST205/75R14 For ST205/75R15 Tires?
A ST205/75R14 trailer tire is going to have a diameter of about 26.3" and a width of 8.1" when inflated. If we go up to a 15", the ST205/75R15 tires are about 27.3" in diameter and 8.1" wide. So, they have the same width, but the 15" will be 1" larger in diameter. That said, it may still be possible to go with the 15" tires, such as the Kenda Karrier # AM10245, it will completely depend on what kind of clearance you currently have in the wheel well.
