Security for RetraxONE MX Hard Tonneau Cover RT60232 on 2015 Ram 1500

Question:
Hello, Can you please describe the locking mechanism for the RetraxONE MX Hard Tonneau Cover? I am concerned about the security of the contents in my truck bed, and I want to make sure I purchase the correct cover for my needs. I have heard that the locking mechanism on this cover uses pressure against the metal rails, and can be pushed back away from the tailgate with little effort. Of course any cover can be broken into, but I would like one that takes more effort and might deter someone away from breaking in. As always, thank you very much for your help.

It's smart to look into the security of a tonneau cover; what I can tell you is that when locked, the RetraxONE MX Hard Tonneau Cover # RT60232 will be secure if it is extended to your 2015 Ram 1500's tailgate. If slightly open, it's likely possible the friction lock can be pulled open, but it would not be like sliding it open when the cover is unlocked. As you mentioned, however, any tonneau cover can be broken into because they are not meant to act as security systems.
That said, the covers do act as deterrents, and if somebody just passing by were to take a look at a solid tonneau cover that obviously had a lock on it there would be little reason to risk breaking in when easier targets would surely be available. Essentially, with the RetraxONE # RT60232 on your '15 Ram, someone would have to be specifically targeting the truck if they wanted to break in because most theft comes down to opportunity, and the Retrax removes that.
