Question:
The product page states that the suspension may be paired with 2,000-lb rated brakes, which I think are usually 7-inch brakes. However, the product page suggests using hub nfoot drum assemblies AKHD-545-35-EZ, which are designed for use with 10-inch 3,500-lb rated brakes. Are these two parts compatible? Or, preferably, can I use standard self-adjusting 10-inch electric drum brakes, such as AKEBRK-35-SA, with this suspension? Thanks!

The recommended hub/drum for use with the Timbren Axle-Less Trailer Suspension Kit # ASR2000S02 is either the powder-coat version # AKHD-545-35-EZ-K or the galvanized version # AKHD-545-35-G-EZ-K, both of which are the 10-inch size. You are correct that these hubs require 10-inch brakes and that often a 2K axle uses smaller brakes in the 7 x 1-1/4-inch drum size.
With either of these hub/drums you can use our cost-effective etrailer self-adjusting brakes, left-hand # AKEBRK-35L-SA and right-hand # AKEBRK-35R-SA. These self-adjusting brakes are compatible with the hubs and Timbren kit and will provide superb stopping power.
The Timbren Axle-Less suspension system may require additional support on your trailer. If your trailer does not have a crossmember above the spot where you want to install the Timbren system, you may need to reinforce the frame. You can accomplish this three ways. First, you can retrofit the trailer with a crossmember. Second, you can build out the trailer frame. Third, you can use standard, 2-inch steel tubing to connect the 2 Timbren suspensions together using the built-in square hole on each unit.
