Can I Fix Wallowed Out Wheel Stud Hole on Trailer?

Question:
I have a travel trailer that weights a little over 2 ton . The camper has aluminum wheels . last week while towing the camper with out my knowing it 1 of wheels on 1 side worked loose. when I made a turn the tire and wheel came off . When putting the wheel back on I noticed the stud holes in the aluminum wheel was worn bigger. I had to use my spare to get home. Is there anything I can buy so I can use the aluminum wheel safely where the lug nuts made the holes in the aluminum wheels bigger .Im not wanting to have to buy a new wheel.

The safest option for you is going to be purchasing a new wheel. The lug nut that is designed for the wheel needs to be able to sit both comfortably and stable so that you don't risk the wheel coming off from the lug nuts loosening again. The wallowed out lug hole is also going to be structurally impacted going forward, so while a fix could work now, over time it's bound to happen again, even with a "fix." I don't recommend traveling on that wheel any longer.
Because the stud hole was worn larger, I'd be willing to bet that the issue comes from the wheel being under-torqued for what it was rated for. This is probably a great time to inspect your hub and other wheels to make sure there's no damage on the other elements on your trailer so that you're good to stay on the road as long and as safely as possible.
