will the gorilla lift gate assist work on a fold in flat to the deck tail gate

The Gorilla-Lift Utility Trailer Tailgate Lift Assist w/ Cable - 300 lbs # GL1 is not designed for the fold flat gate. With some simple modifications, it could work depending on your mounting location. If you mount on the side of the trailer walls at the correct height it could wrap around to work properly. The other option is to use a connection to the gate that would allow you to unhook it when folded flat. Use of a carabiner or quick-link would make that easy.
