Question:
How do you make the winch strap come off the winch from the bottom instead of the top. Mine feeds off from the top and I need it to feed from the bottom.

To get the cable to come off of the Dutton-Lainson Worm Gear Hand Winch, item # DL10974, you would need to crank the winch until the cable is all the way unwound from the winch drum and then continue cranking in the same direction until the cable is wound back onto the drum in the opposite direction it was wound before. This will reverse the feed of the cable from top to bottom or vice versa and will also reverse the direction the handle needs to be turned to winch a load with the winch.
If you have a different winch with a strap and a lever that allows the winch to be reversed, like the Dutton-Lainson Trailer Winch # DL14725, you will use the same process and then the lever will also be reversed for in and out operation.

I have a 2120 Roballo, and I had replace my original winch with a 2500lb which. This winch has subsequently died with the teeth of the main and secondary gears breaking off in less than a year dont worry I didnt buy it from etrailer. I am looking for another winch and will go with the next size up, but my question is there a difference between brands or styles I should be focused on? The original winch had very small, tight compact teeth and it worked for about 10yrs, but i cant find a winch with that style anywhere. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
