Fitting a Bike Rack to a 1-1/4 and a 2 inch Trailer Hitch Receiver
Updated 09/12/2017 | Published 09/09/2017 >
Question:
I am interested in a bike rack you carry. Info says 1.25 and 2inch Receiver. My Question is does it mean rack will work with both receivers or is it one or the other. I have a 2inch and a 1.25inch and would like a rack to fit both.

If a rack is compatible with both a 1-1/4 inch and a 2 inch receiver, then this usually means it includes an adapter for 2 inch hitches so its 1-1/4 inch hitch works in both receiver sizes.
One of the most important factors to look for is the Class compatibility. Some vehicles can only be equipped with a Class I hitch that will have a shorter receiver and only be able to carry two bikes. Ensure that your rack meets this qualification as well as including the 2 inch adapter for best results.
A great example of this is the Swagman XC 2 Bike Rack, part # S64650. This rack is compatible with Class I, II and III hitches and also fits both 1-1/4 and 2 inch hitch receivers, giving it a wide range of flexibility. I've included a review of the rack so you can see a little more about how it works across vehicles.
