Question:
Hi- What are the differences between the Swagman XC2 and XTC-2 bike racks? We have two 30 lb dual suspension mountain bikes with tires that are almost exactly 2.5 in. wide. I am leaning toward the XC2 b/c of the tire width, but am not sure if there are any other relevant differences. These look like the best choice out there for us... I have a 2004 Pontiac Vibe will also purchase the DrawTight receiver hitch. Any help would be appreciated Thanks!

There are several differences between the Swagman XC, # S64650, and the Swagman XTC, # S64670. First, the XC uses a different type of wheel loop than the XTC. While it is a solid and sturdy wheel loop, the ones used on the XTC are not only a different design, but a little more well constructed.
Both racks use the same ratcheting hook assembly to secure the bikes at the frame. The ratcheting system is a secure and convenient method of securing the bikes. The XTC also includes a strap that secures each wheel where as the XC does not include wheel straps.
The XTC can accept bikes with a longer wheel base at 66 inches, where as the XC can handle bikes with up to a 51-1/2 inch wheel base. The XTC measures 9 inches from the center of the hitch pin hole to the closest edge of the first wheel loop. The XC measures 10-1/2 inches. Each rack has a 70 pound capacity.
Since your wheels are close to 2-1/2 inches, the safer bet in terms of fit would be to go with the XC. But if your tires are less than 2-1/2 inches wide, I would go with the XTC because of the added security at the wheels. I have included installation details and video reviews of both of these racks below.
