Want to make sure what fits my 1997 k1500 pickup.

I have a solution for you, but the Curt Class III Trailer Hitch, # C13029, that you referenced will not fit the 1997 Chevrolet K1500 truck.

If your truck has the standard or step bumper, then the Curt Class III Trailer Receiver Hitch, # C13042, will fit you truck. If your truck has the 10 inch deep drop bumper, then the Curt hitch, # C13099, is confirmed to fit. See attached picture to see the difference in bumpers.

We have hitches that fit your 1985 Chevy C10 that has a deep bumper with the Curt hitch part #C13099. Your setup would definitely not be too low to tow with. A rise ball mount would make up for a lower hitch as well. I attached a help article

Yes, check out the picture I attached that has the vertical distances from where the hitch mounts to the frame of the vehicle down to the hitch tube. Since you need at least 6 inches this would clear that by 1-3/8 inches.
