Question:
I currently have a 2 square 3500 lb axle with 1.5 square spindle with an idler hub. I would like to add a flange to add electric brakes. Is there a flange made for square axles?

Expert Reply:
When square axles are made brake mounting flanges with round holes are still used. It may require some additional steel when welding but your best option is # 4-35. Keep in mind that welding on a brake mounting flange properly requires a special jig and someone with experience in welding them on to ensure they are perfectly straight and concentric. Otherwise it can lead to all sorts of brake, tire, and other issues.
