Question:
I have a 1964 Traveleeze Vintage Trailer. Its a 16 ft, single axle around 2000 pounds. Currently, it has P215/75/r15 tires when I purchased it used. There is no manufacturer specs listed on this trailer, as it has been fully rebuilt and customized. Would a ST225/75/r15 Load E tire work well in its place? Is this too much tire?

Helpful Expert Reply:
The tires that were on it, P215, are actually tires meant for passenger cars so replacing them with tires meant for a trailer is a good idea. As for the size, a ST225/75R15 tire with load range of E such as the Karrier # AM10303 would be fine, though you want to check and see if your wheel has the capacity to match the 2,830 lbs at 80 psi capacity of the tire. The tire will also need to fit the wheel, with the aforementioned Karrier fitting 15" x 6", 15" x 6-1/2", 15" x 7" wheels.
Should your wheel have a lower capacity, you may want to check out the Provider ST225/75R15 Radial Trailer Tire - Load Range D # TTWTRTM2257515D or the Karrier ST225/75R15 Radial Trailer Tire - Load Range C # AM10251.
I've added links to video reviews of each of these products for you to take a look at.
