Question:
Do you make a bolt on trailer hitch for a 2006 Pontiac Vibe suv that has a 2inch square receiver ?

Expert Reply:
The available trailer hitches that are confirmed to fit your 2006 Pontiac Vibe all have 1-1/4 inch receivers. This is likely because the vehicle itself does not have the type of weight capacity that a higher class (and larger receiver opening) trailer hitch will provide. Manufacturers do this to prevent smaller vehicles from being overloaded with higher class hitches and accessories.
I recommend the Curt Class II Round Tube Receiver Hitch # C12234. This Class II hitch is confirmed to fit your Pontiac Vibe and will not require any drilling during installation. I have attached the installation details that you can check out. Please note that Curt does require the use of stabilizing straps like # 18050 with any non-trailer load like a bike rack or cargo carrier.
If you are needing to use a hitch-mounted accessory designed for 2 inch receivers on your Pontiac, you can use an adapter like the Brophy # HTAD. This will simply slide into the 1-1/4 inch hitch to provide a 2 inch opening for compatible accessories. Just keep in mind that with this or any other similar adapter, the tongue weight capacity of the trailer hitch will be reduced by 50 percent. This means that when using the adapter, the 200 pound tongue weight capacity on the above mentioned Curt hitch will be reduced to 100 pounds.
I have attached a short video review on this product for you to check out.
