In order to choose the correct jack for your trailer, you must first determine what type of jack you will need. You can choose from either an a-frame jack or side mount jack. Once the correct type of jack is selected, you can then begin to narrow your search down based upon weight restrictions. The trailer jack needs to be capable of lifting the tongue weight of a trailer, rather than the total weight of the trailer. The tongue weight of a trailer is typically 10-15% of the total trailer weight.
Therefore, for a total trailer weight of 5100 lbs, you will need a jack capable of lifting up to around 800 lbs or higher. We have several jack options in this capacity for you to choose from, however, the only electric trailer jacks we sell are for a-frame trailers.
For an electric a-frame trailer jack capable of lifting up to 800 lbs of tongue weight, I recommend using the Stromberg Carlson Electric A-Frame Tongue Jack part # JET-2500 as this jack can provide up to 18" of lift in addition to supporting up to 2,500 lbs. of tongue weight.
For a side mount trailer frame jack, I have attached a list to all of our options for you to choose from in addition to a video review of the Stromberg Electric Jack.
