Uncoupling at an Angle with the Demco Hijacker Autoslide 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch
Updated 06/21/2017 | Published 06/20/2017 >
Question:
Love my Demco Hijacker hitch. But if I unhitch at an angle it is impossible to turn the hitch so you can turn it straight. If the hitch is at an angle it is almost impossible to hitch up. Any way to make the 5th plate easier to turn?

Yes, trying to couple at an angle with the Demco Hijacker Autoslide # DM8550034 is actually not recommended.
The head is fairly hard to move but you should be able to get it. It'll get easier with use. One method that might help is to lock the head release handle open so it's extended out and use that as leverage.
A secondary option is to remove the head and loosen the pivot bolt that runs vertically. This is obviously a lot more intrusive but will work if you need it.
