Question:

Thanks for putting together the the video comparing the two hitches. I could not quite tell which hitch would provide a little more room off the back if I wanted to be certain I could fold a bike rack up. I have a 2016 Mazda 6 and I am looking at getting the Kuat Transfer 2. Any advice is gratefully appreciated.

Since you will be using the trailer hitch for a bike rack, I recommend the Curt hitch # C11356 along with the stabilization strap, # 18050, when using the hitch for anything other than a trailer (in this case a bike rack) per Curt's warranty requirements.

The Kuat Transfer # KU74FR measures just 6 inches from the pin hole to the closest part of the rack when folded so it would not be able to fold up. The Curt hitch sticks out a little, but there is still not enough clearance to fold up the Transfer.

The next step up in the Kuat lineup, the Sherpa # SH12B, # SH12G, or # SH12P, measures 7-1/2 inches when folded up so it would clear the bumper.
