Installed New Brake Solenoid on Trailer and Now Fuse Keeps Blowing When Trying to Use Brakes
Updated 06/06/2017 | Published 06/04/2017 >
Question:
I replaced my backup solenoid with T4748800 this spring after my original one got accidentally broken off this winter. Got it hooked up properly and keeps blowing the fuse in my truck for the center pin of my 7 way which powers solenoid. It was a factory installed 15amp fuse i also tried a 25 amp but still blew it.

Sounds like you have a short somewhere in the system.
Recheck where you wired the solenoid, # T4748800, to make sure that wiring is not frayed and touching any area of your trailer. Make sure that the ground has a good connection.
Is you spliced in to the existing wires during install, check this wiring for any damage and bad grounds. All grounds should be connected to bare metal on the trailer frame. Any rust, dirt, or grease will corrupt the connection and cause issue with the unit.
