Is There Rear Fascia Trimming Required for Installing Hitch on 2017 Volkswagen Golf Alltrack

Question:

I see you have a couple of options for 1 1/4inch hitches for the 2017 Golf Alltrack. Ive read the reviews and need some additional feedback. Do the Curt or Draw-tite require cutting of the bumper to install? Both say that cutting is not required as there is a cut-out in the bottom of the bumper to allow protrusion , however, I have read in some of the reviews that cutting is required. Im looking for use for bike rack only no towing . Thank you.

The area on the 2017 Volkswagen Golf SportWagen that needs to be trimmed to install Draw-Tite trailer hitch # 24949 is covered in the instructions which I have linked. I also included a picture showing this step from the instructions.

If yours somehow had the hole cut already then you wouldn't have to do this step, but most likely you would.
