Dexter Nev-R-Adjust Electric Brakes Not Working on Camper

Question:

I have manually adjusted the brakes for the first initial time but they will not work. Ive run up to 20 mpr and stomped on my brakes to get them to work. No luck. I can hear them clicking but they do not stop my camper. Should I manually adjust them so tight that my tire wont spin? Everything I read says adjust until tire is a slow drag.

The Dexter Nev-R-Adjust Electric Brake Assemblies, such as # 23-465, require an initial adjustment, as you have done already. You are correct in your question when you stated that you will want to simply turn the wheel backwards on the brake assembly until you get just a slight drag. I have attached a video demonstration on the initial setup for these assemblies that you may find helpful.

I recommend pulling the hub on your trailer to make sure everything is still properly in place with the brake assemblies. You can push the magnet on the brakes toward the rear of the trailer and check to see that the shoe properly expands. It's possible that there is a broken spring that might be preventing the brakes from working on your trailer.

I also recommend verifying that the ground connections coming from the brakes are secure and made to clean, bare metal surfaces. If there is a weak ground connection, then there could be power going to the brakes but not enough to fully engage them. This is maybe why you are hearing the clicking sound when applying the brakes in your vehicle.
