Will Trailer Wheel with 2-1/2 Inch Pilot Hole Fit in Place of a Wheel with 2-3/4 Inch Pilot Hole
Updated 05/10/2017 | Published 05/09/2017 >
Question:
I am looking at replacing 5.70-8 tire and rim with 4 bolts on 4inch centers. The center hole pilot? says 2.5inch dia. on all your offerings. My existing rim measures 2.75 dia. and my spindle looks like it is 2.5inch dia. I just want to make sure it will fit. thanks,

Expert Reply:
If the center part of the hubs on your trailer are 2-1/2 inches or smaller then tire and wheel combo # AM30120 will fit.
A pilot hole can be larger than the hub center diameter if the wheel is held on to the hub with lug nuts. But if it attaches using wheel bolts instead of lug nuts then the pilot hole has to be exact because that is how it centers on the hub. At a 2-1/2 inch hub diameter and wheel pilot hole you would be good to go either way.
