Boat Winch That is Rated for a 10,000 lb Boat

Question:

I have a 10000 lb ocean boat that is stored on a carpeted trailer, we have a steep launch ramp and the boats weight imploded the winch which is 2500 lbs. what size winch should I get? Is there a 10000 lb rate hand winch.

The heaviest duty boat trailer hand winch that we have is the Fulton XLT 2-Speed Trailer Winch - 10" Long Handle - 20' Strap - Zinc - 3,200 lbs # F142425, which is rated for 3,200 lbs.

The closest winch that we have to 10,000 lbs for your boat is the Dutton-Lainson StrongArm Electric Winch - Marine, part # DL25215, which is rated for 9,000 lbs. This is an electric winch that should get the job done for you. You will need to use a 12V battery to be able to utilize this winch.

If you have a fully carpeted boat trailer without rollers and you are on a steep incline, both of those factors will put more strain on the winch. I have attached a helpful article that goes into more detail and specifics for you to use.
