Replacement Winch for 25 Foot Party Barge Pontoon Boat

Updated 07/27/2012 | Published 07/25/2012

Question:

The trailer for my 25 foot party Barge only has a 1400 pound winch on it. The trailer is a Tracker trailer that came with my boat. It is stripping gears and wont pull the boat the last few inches to get it to seat right. Any suggestions on what to replace it with. Trailer has bunk boards that are 20 foot long 4

It sounds like an upgrade is definitely in order. The Dutton-Lainson two speed winch you referenced, part # DL15440 would actually be an excellent choice for a heavier boat like your party barge. Dutton-Lainson winches offer a good balance between performance and cost.

A two speed jack is ideal for getting a heavier boat up onto a trailer, the lower speed works well for getting the boat lined up and started onto the trailer, and the higher gear offers additional mechanical advantage to get the boat pulled up and seated correctly on he trailer.
