How Far Past Bumper is Draw-Tite And Curt Trailer Hitch Receivers on 2011 Jeep Liberty

Updated 03/29/2017 | Published 03/28/2017

Question:

Ive gotten mixed answers between calling and emailing..judging from pictures I dont see much of a difference..Im looking at the curt class 3 hitch vs. The draw tite class 3 hitch for a 2011 jeep liberty..Im wondering if one sits more flush than the other and doesnt stick out so much past the bumper. Ive been told the draw tite sits flush with the bumper while the curt sticks out further but pictures dont look that way or show much difference ..is this true for sure or is there no difference between the way they both sit..Thank you

I took a couple measurements on the hitch receivers themselves and compared it to the measurements we made when we installed them on Jeeps to determine if there's a difference. We've installed the Draw-Tite # 75578 on a 2008 Jeep Liberty and the Curt # 13245 on a 2011.

The hitch pin hole of the Draw-Tite on the 2008 lines up perfectly even with the bumper's edge as shown in the video. The pin hole is 2-1/2 inches from the end of the receiver tube per my measurement. So when we combine to two pieces of info we know the tube sticks out 2-1/2 inches from the bumper.

On the other hand, the Curt pin hole is also 2-1/2 inches from the end of the receiver tube, per my measurement. Then, in the video with the 2011, it shows the measurement from the edge of the bumper to the end of the receiver tube to be 2-1/2 inches as well.

So to sum things up, different people taking similar, but not identical, measurements have all come to the same 2-1/2 inches. With that being said you should factor in a slight margin of error because not everyone measures in the exact same fashion (Where on the bumper are the measurements taken from for instance) but I think it's fair to say the receiver tube will be approximately 2-1/2 inches from your 2011 Jeep Liberty's bumper.
