Which Two Wheels to Use for Securing UTV with Erickson UTV Strap and Chocks EM09160
Published 12/09/2016 >
Question:
You mention in one of your other answers that If the straps were installed on the front tires the rear of the vehicle could lift up off the trailer deck in a hard-braking situation. But, what if the UTV is mounted sideways on the trailer? Would you then strap down the front and rear tires that face the rear of the trailer? Please advise and thanks,

Helpful Expert Reply:
It would take an incredibly hard braking situation to lift the rear wheels of a UTV if only the front wheels of it were secured with the Tie Down Kit part # EM09160. Essentially it would only happen if you were in an accident. That being said it is still better to secure the rear wheels.
If the UTV was installed facing perpendicular to traffic the two wheels that would be closest to the rear of the trailer would be the ones to use with the straps.
