Why Does Even Brake ICX Transmitter Connect to the Cold Side of the Brake Switch

why does the transmitter have to be connected to the cold side of the brake pedal wiring?

The cold side of a brake pedal switch only has power running to it when the brake pedal is pressed. This tells the system when the toad vehicle brakes are being applied. Data is sent by the ICX to the hand held part of the system that stays in the RV.
Some vehicles will not have an active brake light switch when in tow-mode. In those cases there is a brake light switch kit needed. And in other cases a brake light relay might be needed depending on the type of lighting kit you are using.
If you can tell me the year, make, and model of the vehicle the Even Brake # RM-9400 is going in and the light kit you are using I can determine if you need to use the relay or switch kit.

I have a 2015 Jeep Cherokee. I want to connect the cold side of break light circuit to my even brake transmitter. The jeeps break light works when I’m towed position. Can I connect the cold side of break light circuit directly?
