Recommended Replacement Axle For Carry-On 6 X 12 Utility Trailer

Updated 10/24/2016 | Published 10/21/2016

Question:

Hi I have a question regarding a 3500 pound axle for my 2015 carry-on 6x12 utility trailer. I currently have a Dexter 3K8874 axle without brake flanges and I would like to upgrade the axle to a 3500 pound axle with the electric brake kit similar to 35545E-ST-89. Would you happen to have a axle with electric drum brake kit that will work with my application? Thank you

To make sure you get the right replacement axle on your Carry-On trailer you need to know a couple thins. First you need to know the spring-to-spring measurement. Then you need to know the hub face to hub face measurement.

The Dexter Trailer Axle w/ Electric Brakes, part # 35545E-ST-89 has a spring-center-to-spring-center length of 74-inches and a hub-face to hub-face measurement of 89-inches. If these measurements match your trailer then this would work great for you.

If the measurements do not match I recommend the Timbren Axle-Less Trailer Suspension System, part # A35RD545E. This system has a 3,500-lb weight capacity and comes with the electric brake hubs with a 5 on 4-1/2 bolt pattern. This system also comes with a 4-inch drop for lower deck height.
