Recommended Jack for a 5 x 10 Utility Trailer

Updated 07/14/2025 | Published 07/11/2025

Question:

I have a small 10 x 5 utility trailer and I’m looking for some type of support bar to stabilize my trailer once I unhitch from my vehicle. Do you offer or know of any accessory which you would recommend?

Hey Gill. It sounds like you need a jack for your utility trailer. If you have an a-frame trailer tongue with a hole drilled into the center you can use the Round A-Frame Trailer Jack item # TJA-2002-B with the foot plate # JF-101BK or item # JC-101 if you prefer a wheel. This is a top wind jack with a 2,000 lbs capacity, 1,200 lbs with the wheel. It has a 9-1/4" retracted height and can extend up to 24".

If you don't have an a-frame trailer, I recommend the Fulton Boat Trailer Jack w/ Wheel item # FXP10. This sidewind jack has a 1,200 lbs capacity and attaches to the side of your trailer's tongue with an included bracket. It has a retracted height of 14-1/2" and an extended height of up to 24-1/2". The included swivel bracket will allow you to rotate your jack up along the trailer frame when towing your trailer.

What kind of utility trailer do you have?

I have a Belmont trailer. I have a wheel in the A-frame of my hitch. I’m looking for something to stabilize my trailer once it’s unhitched. Looking for a some type of support arm for the rear so it doesn’t pop up off the ground if I have a heavy load in the rear of the trailer.

@GillG A pair of scissor jacks like the etrailer Scissor Stabilizer Jacks w/ Handle and Drill Adapter - 24" Lift - 5,000 lbs item # e56VV would be your most stable option. You would just need to find a part of the frame to mount them on and accessible to reach.
