Question:
Does the heat shield need to be removed on a 2016 GMC Sierra 3500 HD Diesel? I would prefer not to.

The heat shield does have to be removed to install B&W gooseneck trailer hitch # BWGNRK1016 on your 2016 GMC Sierra 3500 because it is in a position that interferes with the hitch installation. All of the gooseneck hitches for your truck will either need to have the heat shield removed or trimmed for installation.
