After a long period in place a lock mechanism can stick and make it tough to get the key in it, or to get the inserted key to turn. There are a few suggestions I can offer to you to get your lock # 1480DAT open.
You can spray a bit of aerosol white lithium grease into the lock. Do not use powdered graphite as it will eventually harden. A small amount can also be applied to the key before it is inserted. The keys themselves sometimes will benefit from a bit of fine (500 grit) sandpaper rubbed on their surfaces. This will remove microscopic burrs that can cause sticking. Also, a good old-fashioned whack with a hammer still does it in certain cases, but as a last resort certainly, after you have tried the other remedies.
