Higher Capacity Ball Mount Recommendation for Chevy Truck Towing 7,000 lb Trailer

Question:
I have a Chevy 2500, 4x4, ext cab, heavy duty, 8.1 engine, at around 7000Lbs, and I have a 5000Lb ball mount2and5/16, with a 8200Lb rated, stainless ball now. I pull a 16 ft, WW, all steel, enclosed, animal trailer, and I need to know if this is enough, or if I need a stronger set up. I was thinking of the C45341 mount, and another ball 2and5/16 to go with the C45341. What would be your suggestion to have on my rig? I though of perhaps the 8200 ball that I have with 1 inch shank, may be used with the reducer from 1and1/4 to the 1 inch shank that is on my 8200 ball. Perhaps this is not enough strength ball for the mount. Please advise what I need. Thanks

If your trailer weighs 7,000 lbs and you have a ball mount with a 5,000 lb capacity you will need to upgrade to a higher capacity ball mount like the part # C45341 that you referenced.
Then for a hitch ball you would need the part # 63840 which is a 2-5/16 inch ball with a 20k capacity that will fit the ball mount.
You will need to ensure that you go with a ball mount that has the right amount of rise/drop to tow your trailer level too. I attached a help article that covers that as well.
