Question:
I am interested in this bike rack for our 2015 X5. We will be transporting both road bikes and mountain/hybrids. The compact size and light weight make it attractive. Will the tilt allow me access? In that this is a new item and you have no reviews would you give your personal opinion on this versus their heavier model as well as a comparable Thule. thanks

Kuat makes some of the nicest bike racks around the new Kuat Sherpa 2.0 part # SH22G is basically an updated version of the Sherpa # S101 which was highly reviewed by our customers. The new Sherpa is lighter (by 8 lbs for a total weight of 32 lbs), has updated wheel cradles and updated wheel hooks as well.
This rack would work well for you on your 2015 BMW X5 as long as you have hitch like the part # 75600 installed on it. The hitches for your vehicle sit quite a bit lower than the bottom of the rear hatch so that means that with the rack tilted you would have more access than most hatch style vehicles.
The most comparable Thule rack is the T2 Pro XTR part # TH69TX which is also a great option with the same basic features except heavier at 52 lbs when used as the 2 bike set up or 96 pounds when used as the 4 bike set up. This rack has stood the test of time and our customers do love it, but it is on the heavier side. It does features built-in wheels to help move it around. You can check this out on its video.
