Does the Thule TH500XT work with a standard truck bed tool box?

The answer to your question will depend on what kind of toolbox you have. If you have a chest style that sits completely between the bed sides without resting on the top of the bed sides, the Thule # TH500XT Xsporter would work fine. If you're speaking of a crossover style toolbox that rests on the bed sides, the Xsporter would not work for you.

The T-Rac Pro 2 # TH37003XT from TracRac would allow you to mount your toolbox, using the integrated mounts shown in the photo I've provided for you. The TracRac is also less expensive and carries a 1000 lb weight rating, versus the 450 lb capacity of the Xsporter.
