Replacing OEM Brake Controller On 2016 Toyota Tundra

Question:
I have a 2016 Tundra with the OEM integrated brake controller. It appears to have no to un-noticeable gain in the electric mode. The truck is scheduled to go to the dealer for them to take a look at it. This same problem has been reported by others on Tundratalk.net without any reported resolution. In that I need a working brake controller in the next few weeks, I just as well go with the P3 and be done with it. Have there been any conversion problems that you are aware of for the 2016 Tundra going from the OME to the P3? Thanks,

I called my contact at Tekonsha about your 2016 Tundra and the OEM brake controller. They have not received any bulletins or information about the OEM controllers. We have not had the opportunity to install a brake controller on a 2016 Tundra that has an OEM controller already installed.
They told me that you may have to get the computer 'flashed' in your Tundra at the dealership when you remove the OEM and replace it with the P3, part # 90195. This is a discussion you would need to have with your dealership. We also have the plug-in adapter, part # 3031-P that plugs into the built-in port behind the dash of your vehicle.
I do agree it needs to be addressed for safety concerns and with the new truck should be a priority at the dealer.
