The Thule anti-sway angled extensions # 852-3108-001 can be removed from the Hold Fast cradle the reverse way they are installed. I have attached a photo from the Vertex instructions showing how they are installed.
The angled extension will rotate so that the slot in the extension (shown in photo) is lined up with the bar on the underside of the cradle (show in photo). The bar on the underside of the cradle is not round, but oval-shaped, so the extension can only be removed when the opening is lined up with the skinnier part of the bar. Once the opening in the extension is lined up, you can pull down on the extension to remove it from the cradle. This may take a good pull to remove. The anti-sway cage will remove from the extension in the same way.
To install the anti-sway cage on the cradle, you will want to line up the mounting slots in the cage with the bars on the cradle and push the cage on. Then you will rotate the cage downward to secure it to the cradle.
