Video Transcript for In-Depth Review of the Replacement Rubber Strap for Thule T2 Bike Carrier Cradles

Today we're going to review part number 753-35-35. This is the Thule Replacement Rubber Strap for the Thule Bike Racks that use the T3 Cradles. Now this strap is used to hold down your bike to the bike rack cradle. This rubber strap replaces a lost or damaged strapped on your Thule Bike Carrier that uses the T3 Cradles. You can see on this one end of the strap it does have a hard plastic attachment to it. Now the Bottle Bike Racks with the T3 Cradles are the Thule Ridgeline, The Roadway, The Revolver, and the Spare-Me Bike Racks.

This part in quantity is for one strap. If you notice it has the six holes right here, the round holes, and the measurement on those holes center to center is 1 inch. Total length, let's see if I can get you a total length on this from the very tip to the very tip. It's going to be right at 10-1/2 inches. The diameter of the smaller holes are 1/2-inch and this one big large on the end is about 1-1/2 inches. That should do it for the review on part number 753-35-35.

This is the Thule replacement Rubber Strap for Thule Bike Racks with the T3 Cradles.

  • Wider And Flatter Replacement Cradle Option For A Thule Roadway 4-Bike Carrier
For your Thule Roadway 4 Bike Carrier for 1-1/4" and 2" Hitches TH914XT, which is no longer available, I recommend replacing your current Stay-Put Cradles # 853-7887 with the: -Replacement T2 Cradle Body for Thule Bike Carriers # 853-5829. You are also going to need different straps # 753-3535 for the new cradle as the old ones aren't compatible. This cradle is wider and flatter and should be a great fit your Trek Domaine.

  • Replacement Cradles for Thule Hitching Post 4-Bike Rack
There are currently several different Thule Hitching Post 4-Bike Racks (980, 944, 945, 984, 985, 934, 934 XT, 935, 935XT, Etc.) so it would be a bit difficult to confirm the correct replacement parts without the exact model. If you don't know what model you have then you can try sending a photo and I can go about trying to identify it that way. However, the Replacement T3 Cradle Body part # 853-5829 and the Replacement Rubber Strap part # 753-3535 will work for all but the 980, 984, 985...

  • Troubleshooting Difficult Use of Thule Rubber Strap for Bike Rack
If you live in an area where it is currently cold (since this is February) then the issue is that the rubber strap like part # 753-3535 are being difficult to stretch due to the cold. Try heating the rubber straps up a little by taking the bike rack inside the house/garage or taking a blow dryer to them. This will allow them to flex some so that you can get them to attach to your bike rack. If you are in a warmer area then the same concept can be applied but it is a little less likely....

  • Troubleshooting Straps On Thule Bike Carrier That Are Difficult To Release
Hey Sue, thanks for reaching out. I know what you mean about the straps getting stuck. This problem is not unheard of for these kinds of bike racks, especially when the straps and mechanisms have been exposed to the elements for a long time. One thing you can try is cleaning the straps and the mechanism as best you can. Dirt and debris can get stuck in there and make things not move correctly. Then just try to keep in as clean and dry as you can going forward. A very tiny amount of WD-40...

  • Looking For Replacement Straps Or Cradles For Thule Bike Rack Made In 2015
Hello Annalisa, thanks for reaching out. The straps you pictured and the bike rack look at lot like the old Thule T2. Do you happen to know the name or model number of your Thule Rack? That is usually the best way to confirm the correct replacement parts. Thule did make a few different models of bike rack back then, and the straps are largely model specific. That said, if what you have is the Thule T2 (sure looks like it is), you can use the following strap: - Replacement Rubber Strap...

  • Replacement Cradles and Straps For Thule T2 Bike Carrier with 1" Round Tube
Looking at your cradles they are identical to the Replacement T2 Cradle Body # 853-5829. This uses the Replacement Rubber Strap # 753-3535. To prevent the bikes from swinging in the cradles and bumping into each other you can add the Thule No Sway Cage Bike Stabilizer # TH955 to the seat post cradle side. This will reduce the amount the bike is able to sway and prevent the bikes from swinging into each other.

  • Is There A Way To Tell What Model Thule Bike Rack This Is?
Though this does look remarkable similar to the Thule Hitching Post Pro # TH934XTR, to my knowledge this rack was never offered with just a 2" shank as it used a 1-1/4" shank with a 2" adapter, so I can't say exactly which model you have. However, I can definitely say that you do have a Thule rack due to the design and cradles you have on the arms. The cradles you have were used on older racks and are no longer made, but the Replacement T2 Cradle Body # 853-5829 and Replacement Rubber Strap...

  • How to Remove Old Thule T3 Cradle Strap And Install a New One
If the cap at the end of the bike rack arm has a rivet instead of a screw to hold it on (check on the bottom of the arm) then you will not be able to remove it. But what you can do to get strap # 753-3535 installed is essentially stretch it out enough to go over everything, including the cradle. I have actually done this myself and made a video of it. You basically have to work it on there by stretching and moving it as you go.
