Question:
Any thought on Firestone Air Bags and if they help address rear suspension problems if you are close to tongue weight. BUT sufficiently under GCWR?

Don't worry I can help.
The anti-sway unit that the dealer put on your trailer will not allow you to backup like you want to. This is because it is constantly putting force onto the trailer and when backing up it will be easier to jack-knife. This anti sway bar is an effective sway when used in the towing position because it makes the trailer want to track the vehicle.
I would recommend the Equal-i-zer system # EQ37100ET you were previously looking at over the Curt TruTrack based on customer experience and the tongue weight rating fits better for your truck and trailer setup.
The Equal-i-zer weight distribution system # EQ37100ET, will allow you to back up, but if you will be making sharp turns when backing up you will want to dis-engage and remove the spring bars before 90 degrees. The loaded tongue weight of 600-1000lbs is a good fit for your truck and trailer's weight capacities. This system will come with a 2-5/16 inch ball and since you have the emergency brake and solar-ready connection you will want to check that the sway control bracket positioning of 27-32 inches back from the center of the coupler will work for you.
One additional part you will want to get is the thin walled socket # EQ70-00-4800 this is specially designed for the hitch ball installation.
I have linked all the parts to this page as well as a few videos for your convenience. Let me know if the sway control bracket positioning will not work for your trailer and I would be more than happy to help find you another solution.
