What is Required to Change the Bolt Pattern on Trailer Hubs

Question:

I have an older EZ Load trailer. Two axles at 5k each. They take 8.75x16.5 tires. I am wondering if I could change the hubs to 8 bolt and upgrade to 17inch H2 rims. Seems to be a lot more tires available at 17 than 16.5. Would it be as simple as I am thinking just changing with a drum kit? Thank you

To change your hub bolt pattern will require you to change hubs to one that has the bolt pattern you need.

You will need to know what spindle you have on your trailer. In order to do that you can either get the inner and outer bearing numbers from a hub or use a dial or digital caliper to get exact measurements of the spindle. The measurements needed are the parts of the spindle where the bearings ride.

If you get back to me with that information I will help you pick out the right hub assemblies. Or, you can follow the link I attached that will take you to the page that has all of our replacement hubs.

You would want to first select the bolt pattern that you have, next select the inner bearing you have, followed by selecting your outer bearing, and then all the correct hubs will be listed.

Hello, I have a Schutt Industries Adventure Trailer with a Dexter Rubber Torsion Axle. I'd like to switch the hubs/wheels to match my Ford F150's 6x135 bolt pattern. Can you tell me what parts I would need? Thanks,

For that you're going to have to swap everything out to meet auto industry standards. Trailer hubs have specific bolt patterns that won't match up with the 6x135 pattern you're wanting. Please note that we don't advise using passenger vehicle parts on trailers simply because they are designed for a different purpose.
