Question:
I am interested in either the Hopkins 6-pin round metal trailer plug or the equivalent Pollack plug. On the vehicle side, what gauge wire can I use for the ground and aux power pins? Specifically, will either of them accommodate 10 gauge wire? Any suggestions on which would be better to accommodate the larger sized ground and power wires? Thank you.

Expert Reply:
Both the Hopkins # HM48420 and the Pollack # PK11609 will accept a maximum of 12 gauge wire, so neither will accommodate 10 gauge.
To get aux power and ground to your 6-way, you will want to run a length of 12 gauge wire like our 12 Gauge Primary Wire # 12-1-1 or # 12-2-1.
