Recommended 7-Way to 6-Pole Flat Tow Trailer Connector That Works w/a Charge Line

Updated 11/06/2025 | Published 11/02/2025

Question:

I’m looking for a wire harness like Hopkins Endurance Flex-Coil Trailer Connector Adapter w/ Nite-Glow - 7-Way to 6-Pole - 8 Long but it needs to have a 12 gauge or 10 gauge power wire to handle keeping the tow vehicle’s battery charged. Doesn’t need to have the Nite-Glow and am flexible on the length. Looking for recommendations. Thanks!

Hey Brian. You're going to need the Roadmaster Coiled Tow Bar Power Cord - 7-Way to 6-Way item # RM88BQ, which is wired to work with a charge line like the Roadmaster item # RM-156-25. This connector carries the charge line signal from the 1 o'clock terminal on your motorhome's 7-way to the center pin on your towed vehicle's 6-way connector.

I attached a couple of diagrams below so you can make sure the charge lines are setup correctly to work with the Roadmaster item # RM88BQ.

You'll need to connect the Roadmaster item # RM-156-25 to the center terminal on the 6-way. If your motorhome's 7-way connector does not have a charging line attached to the terminal at the 1 o'clock position you can use the Roadmaster item # RM-156-75 to add one.

What vehicle are you setting up to flat tow and what kind of motorhome do you have? If you need anymore components, I would be happy to make recommendations if you could give me some more information.

You can add this information and any other questions you have where it says Reply to Jerred H and I'll be happy to answer them.
