Will Curt Trailer Hitch C11367 Deform the Bumper Fascia of 2015 BMW 435i
Published 01/29/2016 >
Question:
Question on hitches that fit between the frame and the steel bumper using the existing bumper bolts such as C11367. Inserting the trailer hitch under the bumper effectively pushes the bumper out the width of the hitch flange closing whatever gap exits between the steel bumper and the plastic bumper fascia. Is there enough room to accommodate this without negatively impacting the bumper fascia in any way? And if there is enough room, why would the manufacturer design in the extra space if it wasnt needed? My car is BMW 435 Gran Coupe. Thanks for your thoughts.

You are correct that when the Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver Class I # C11367 is installed, it will move the steel bumper closer to the bumper fascia by the width of the mounting bracket. However, this will not negatively impact or deform the bumper fascia.
If installing the hitch caused problems at the bumper fascia, the manufacturer would state that the hitch requires trimming of the bumper fascia or they would not list the hitch as a fit for the vehicle. The # C11367 requires no trimming of the bumper fascia for your 2015 BMW 435i Grand Coupe.
I went out to the warehouse to measure the thickness of the mounting bracket on the # C11367 hitch. The thickness of the mounting bracket measures 0.320 inches. This is all the closer the hitch will move the steel bumper to the bumper fascia.
I cannot answer as to why the vehicle manufacturer would leave extra space at the bumper fascia. The only thought I have is that there is space between the steel bumper and bumper fascia to maintain the aesthetic of the vehicle.
I have attached a photo from the installation instructions, which are attached, showing the # C11367 hitch on a BMW for you. I have also attached an installation video of this hitch on a 2015 BMW 3 Series.
