The Reese Elite Series Pre-Assembled 5th Wheel Hitch, part # RP30144 is not designed to work with the factory pucks in the bed of your 2016 Ram, but I do have a solution for you.

I recommend a fifth wheel hitch like part # C16541. This is a 20,000 lb slider hitch. To make this hitch work with the factory pucks in your truck bed you will need part # RP30154. These drop into the pucks and allow you to use the RP30083 hitch.

Another solution you may want to consider is to install a stationary hitch like part # RP30918. This is a fixed fifth wheel hitch and will drop into the pucks in the bed of your truck without the hassle of installing an adapter. Using a fixed fifth wheel hitch will require replacing the king pin on your trailer with a Sidewinder and using wedge kit # RP44FR.

Since Sidewinders are pin box specific, you will need to know what model and make pin box you have on your trailer. If you know what pin box you have, you can let me know and I will be happy to see if a Sidewinder is available for your trailer. For instance, if you have a Lippert 1621 pin box on your trailer, the Sidewinder I recommend is part # RP34FR.
