Which wiring harness is best for 2015 Volkswagen Golf Sportwagen TDI SE? The Curt version or this Tow Ready 118646 or other. Does 118646 need to be modified in any way to work with the 2015 Volkswagen Golf Sportwagen TDI SE other than the power wiring to the battery?

For your 2015 Volkswagen Golf Sportwagen the only trailer wiring kit we offer that has been confirmed as a fit is the part # 119250KIT.
This will require that you run a wire up to the batter of the vehicle as well. I attached an install video that shows how it would install in a similar vehicle.
