If your Tacoma has the factory installed 7-way trailer connector at the rear bumper, it will be equipped with the brake controller connector under the dash. The connector will be located above and to the left of the emergency brake pedal, above the kick panel, as shown in the provided photo. For the Hopkins Agility brake controller, you'd need their # HM47815 brake controller adapter.

If the vehicle is NOT equipped with the factory installed 7-way, it will not have the under dash connector, and the controller would need to be hardwired using our Brake Controller Install Kit, part # ETBC7. If you don't already have a 4-poler trailer connector, you'll need to install one using part # 118496. I'll link you to the instructions for the ETBC7, as well as to a video showing a similar controller being installed in a 2012 Tacoma. The procedure on your truck would be similar.

We recommend using 10 gauge wire like # 10-1-1 for the brake output circuit back from the brake controller. This will ensure the voltage doesn't drop too much by the time it reaches the brake assemblies on the trailer.
