Troubleshooting Weight Distribution Hanger Bracket Installation on a V-Nose Trailer

Question:
I recently ordered the combination WD Hitch and Dual Cam Sway Control system Reese 66084. Im still waiting on the sway control components to arrive but have run into a snag while installing the WD hitch. My trailer has a V-nose that leaves me very little trailer frame exposed. This does not allow me to move the snap-up anchors far enough back on the frame to make the chains vertical from the spring bars. All connected, I have about a 20-30 degree angle on the chains with the top being farther forward. Should I find a different system? I dont want to damage this one or use it if Im not getting optimal results from it. Also, will the angle of the chains become an issue when its time to connect the anti-sway cams?

The angle of the chains will present a problem, with the chains angled forward to such a degree it will put forward pressure on the spring bars and the weight distribution head.
There is a solution though. You can use the Bolt On Weight Distribution Chain Hanger Kit, item # RP58305, in place of the Tip up chain hanger brackets. Once installed the chains are attached by raising the trailer tongue and rear of vehicle with the trailer jack. Tubular frames cannot be wider than 2-1/4 inches with this hanger kit, so you will need to be sure and measure before purchasing.
With these brackets you will be able to complete your installation with the chains in the correct orientation for correct weight distribution and sway control function. You can view one of these hangers installed on a trailer with the Dual Cam Sway Control, Item # RP26002, attached in the video we have on line (see link). At 4 minutes 50 seconds into the video a bolt on chain hanger is shown being used on a trailer that either has a v nose or a tool box located so that the tip up brackets cannot be used.
