Question:

Im having trouble identifying the brakes on my trailer. I thought that they were 5k axles but I dont see any 5k listed. I know that they are not 7k. Does that mean they are the 6k ones? I need 4 assemblies. Maybe drums to. Thanks alot

If you cannot be sure what the weight rating is for the axles on your Haulmark trailer you can contact them with your VIN number and they should be able to confirm this for you. If not, you can choose brakes that are the correct size, say for example the 7 x 1-1/4-inch like the Dexter # 23-47 you referenced, and choose the highest-rated brake in that size. Sometimes a 7000-lb axle may be de-rated and referred to as a 6K axle.

The link provided will take you to our main page for all electric drum trailer brakes. You can use the filters on the page to select the correct brake diameter and width and then choose the highest weight capacity for your brake size. Typically a 6000-lb axle will have 12-inch diameter brakes. You will want to be sure you select the left- and right-hand brakes that use the same mounting hole pattern. The 12-inch brakes we offer use either 5-hole or 4-hole brake flanges.

Hub/drum assemblies can be seen on the other included link. You will need to select hubs of the same diameter and width as your brakes, and that use the same wheel bolt pattern as your current hubs/wheels. The linked article will help to identify this feature.

New hubs have to use the same bearing set as you existing hubs. This is essential to ensure your new hubs will fit your spindles. Bearing, race, seal part numbers can often be found on the existing parts - please refer to the linked photo. Filters on the hub page will let you narrow the results based on your inner and outer bearing numbers.

For example, if you need 6-on-5-1/2 bolt pattern hubs for a 6000-lb axle that use bearings # 25580
and # 15123 you can use # 8-201-9UC3-EZ from Dexter.
