Question:
i was wondering if anyone has ever had a problem with sticky balls...lol what i mean is being that the shaft is tapered and the top of the ball has a hole to change the ball sizes, can water enter here and rust and seize the ball to the shaft? i understand that it is a good idea to always keep your shaft and balls lubed up with grease and to store it when not in use, but i dont think im alone when i say sometimes i leave my balls out for weeks at a time never knowing when the next time i going to put them to use i have tried the ball condoms 42251 before, but the really dont last very long and are hard to get off in the winter, will the 005B fit this products shaft or is it not the right shape? one more question, what do you offer for under seat storage for this product? will these balls fit the hard case Convert-A-Ball Accessories and Parts - 004B or is it better to use the ETBMB or CE27481? and are both of the bags padded? does one have more padding than the other? i guess that was more than one question, but for someone that has spent the last 10 minutes talking about balls and shafts do you really expect that them to be able to count? i have chosen not to make my question GREAT and add pictures like it says at the bottom of this page, with consideration for your wellness as im sure that you wouldnt want that mental picture of my e-mails topic. thank you for taking the time to read and answer my questions P.S. PLEASE GOD, let it be a male that gets this e-mail.

Yes, I am sure that there are many people out there with your similar concerns. Since an interchangeable hitch ball set like part # 63803 has the quick-release mechanism on the top of the ball, it is very possible for water to get in here. In an effort to prevent this, we recommend doing just as you said, keep things greased with a light weight oil and stored when not in use.
As for using a cover, the good news about a cover is that it will prevent the ball from direct contact with the elements but bad news is that it can hold moisture. If you choose to use Hitch Ball Cover, I recommend using # FA82-00-3216 for easier access and removing it every so often to apply the oil. The Convert-a-Ball Cover, # 005B, that you mentioned was designed to fit the Convert-a-Ball Interchangeable Shank and will not work with the Tow Ready set.
Now for storage. The 3-Ball Storage Case, # 004B, will work to store the Tow Ready hitch balls but my recommendation is for the CE Smith Ball Mount Storage Bag, # CE27481. This will not only store the hitch balls and shank but a 2" rise/4"drop drawbar as well. This bag measures 15" long x 6" tall x 4" wide. This is a padded storage bag where as the etrailer.com Ball Mount Bag, # ETBMB is not.
Dan, check out the video that I have attached for you :-)
