Can the 2-Piece Polypropylene Trailer Vent # HMAV2-AVT2 Mount Facing Forward
Published 03/05/2015 >
Question:
I have a 2-fold reason to attach these vents. I purchased one for the left and right front sides of a SWISS made tall truck cap aluminum for ventilation. The other reason for the purchase was to hide 3 dents to the new cap caused by something falling over inside and against the thin aluminum wallits not lined inside. If I mount the vent vertically with the vent facing forward, it covers the 3 sets of dents perfectly. It wouldnt cover all the dents if I mounted it with the vents facing downward. Since there is a water baffle inside anyway, would I be asking for water intrusion into the toppper if mounted with the vents facing forwardlike an airscoop? I do have one of your opening roof vents which will be mounted on the top rear. Thanks.

If you mounted the 2-Piece Polypropylene Trailer Vent # HMAV2-AVT2 with the opening of the vent facing forward like a ram air hood on a car there is a better chance of it allowing water through it. If there is any way to mount it like in the picture I attached that we got from a customer you would be better off.
That being said, most hood scoops that are small like the part # HMAV2-AVT2 actually don't get a lot of direct airflow at highway speeds because the wind deflects off the top of the vehicle (or in your case trailer), and is directed over the scoop. That is why the funny cars have their hood scoops so much higher than the hood of the vehicle.
