Question:
I was going to order DM12662-97 strait coupler, but I have a question about welding this coupler to my 3inch wide by 4inch tall trailer tongue. This coupler is so short and is not tapered to weld it on the sides, what is the correct way to weld this on my trailer tongue? Is it welded on the back sides only, or welded on the back side and bottom? I would like to know before ordering so I can determine the best coupler for me since welding upside down is not part of my expertise. I need minimum 12,000lb for my trailer. Thank You

The Demco coupler # DM12662-97 is fairly shallow front to back. Because of that you are going to want to weld it everywhere that it makes contact with the trailer tongue especially considering the capacities involved. That would be the back side and the bottom.
Titan coupler # T1755000 might be more like the design you are looking for. It would be much easier to weld along the sides of this coupler. I have linked a video review for you.
